Our God,
Tonight we come before You humbly after an exhausting and anxiety filled year; a year in which we grieved over 500 of our fellow Nashvillians lost to coronavirus. Let these families hear the words of Jesus, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
We thank you for the first responders and essential workers. They were and are heroes. May they hear the words of Jesus, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.”
We pray Your blessing on this meeting and on each council person. Give this group wisdom to discern hard governing decisions, compassion in their pursuit of justice, calm in the chaos of a changing world, clarity in their communication, and unity in their vision.
May they lead us in grace, truth, and hope in order to make Nashville a shining city on a hill, a place of blessing where people live, work, and enjoy the good life.
In Your Name,
Amen.
